SALEM, OR — On March 15, we were notified by the Department of Administrative Services that repairs to the electrical system in the Capitol Mall area would be performed on March 24 due to the Capitol Accessibility, Maintenance and Safety Project. The buildings affected will be Labor and Industries Building, the State Library, the Department of Transportation, the Capitol Mall Parking Structure, and the Public Service Building, where the Secretary of State Information Services Division is located. The planned outage is part of the Capitol Accessibility, Maintenance and Safety (CAMS) project.
PGE estimates the system shutdown will result in an extended power outage over the weekend. As a result, Secretary of State systems including on-line voter registration, corporation filings, campaign finance filings, and other on-line functions of the Secretary of State's office will be unavailable. Upon completion of PGE's work, systems will be restored.
The voter registration deadline for this May's Primary Election is April 24. Individuals can register online today, tomorrow, and anytime after completion of the electrical work through 11:59pm, April 24. For anyone wanting to register to vote this weekend, paper forms are available during regular business hours at the Secretary of State's Salem office.
